Cambodia’s First Official Sailing Club Opens

Knai Bang Chatt opens Cambodia’s first Sailing Club as a member of the Cambodia Sailing Federation (CSF)

KEP PROVINCE, April 19 – His Excellency Dr. Thong Khon, Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism and President of the Cambodian National Olympic Committee (NOCC) will officially open Cambodia’s first Sailing Club on Monday 24th April 2017.

The recently built Sailing Club which is a member of the Cambodian Sailing Federation (CSF) with newly purchased Optimist, Hobie Wave, Hobie 16 and T2 Sailing boats will offer International guests, Cambodian Nationals and local expats a range of Sailing Courses provided by fully trained Sailing Instructors under the supervision and requirements of Cambodia Sailing Federation (CSF).

In the collaboration with Cambodia Sailing Federation (CSF), the long term plan of The Sailing Club is to introduce the sport of Sailing to Cambodian youths with aspirations, commitments, passions and in provision of producing high calibre sailors that will compete in International level tournaments, sporting events such the 29th SEA Games that will be held in Malaysia from August 19-31, 2017 this year. Cambodia Sailing Federation (CSF) has also selected Knai Bang Chatt to be one of the sailing training facilities in preparation of the 32th SEA Games in 2023 that Cambodia will be the host nation.

Following the guidelines and practices of the Royal Yacht Club Association our instructors have undertaken extensive training courses and with the focus on health and safety are now delivering beginner courses in sailing in the optimist boats and intermediate courses in the Hobie Wave’s and Hobie 16 and T2 boats which certified by Cambodia Sailing Federation (CSF)

Mr. Jef Moons, founder and CEO of Knai Bang Chatt and its adjacent Sailing Club, said I feel extremely honoured that H.E Dr. Thong Khon the Minister of Tourism and President of the Cambodian National Olympic Committee (NOCC) underwrites the importance of Sailing. “At Knai Bang Chatt Sailing Club we now set course to creating professional sailors, and to connect all Cambodians to new beautiful experiences on Coastal Cambodia”, Mr Moons said.

Mr. John Black, general manager of the luxury boutique hotel and Sailing Club, said that he delighted to add another level to the company’s CSR program. “Water sports are slowly awakening in Cambodia and the thought of being able to introduce the youth of Cambodia to Sailing is one that is very exciting indeed”, Mr. Black said.

This new Sailing Club will provides a variety of water sports and activities at the heart of Knai Bang Chatt Resort, we are is proudly to be located in one of the most beautiful bays in the world. We hope this image will embrace and solidified Cambodia slogan “The raising star of the Southwest” a title that was worthy of given by the most beautiful bay in the world club.
