We are very excited at Knai Bang Chatt as we have taken our next big step in Going Green and becoming a sustainable travel destination.  At Knai Bang, we believe in things that matter.

We are immensely proud to announce that we are one of the first Cambodian resorts to enroll in the Green Growth 2050 Certification Program.  With our “Green team” and our recently appointed resident bio-engineer, we are taking on the challenge to become a fully internationally certified sustainable organization.

The comprehensive Green Growth 2050 Global Standard Certification Standard consists of 37 criteria and more than 400 indicators, which cover all aspects of sustainability and social responsibility, including:

  • Sustainability Management (Implementation and Policy Framework, Compliance to International Conventions)
  • Legal Compliance (Licensing & Legislation, Land Use)
  • Labour Practices (Employee Protection, Employee Training, Equitable Hiring)
  • Health & Safety (Disaster Management and Emergency Response)
  • Human Rights (Respect Local Populations, Exploitation, Basic Services, Local Livelihoods).
  • Sustainable Design & Construction of Buildings and Infrastructure (Planning and Design, Equitable Access)
  • Sustainable Operations – Best Practice (Purchasing Policy, Customer Satisfaction, Accuracy of Promotional Materials, Experiential to Interpretive Tourism, Communications Strategy, Food & Beverage, Green Meetings)
  • Bribery & Corruption (Policy & Disclosure, Supply Chain)
  • Environmental StewardshipConserving Resources (Energy Consumption, Water Consumption)
  • Environmental Stewardship – Reducing Pollution (Greenhouse Gas, Wastewater, Waste Management, Harmful Substances & other Pollutants)
  • Environmental Stewardship – Conserving Biodiversity (Wildlife & Habitat, Landscapes & Biodiversity)
  • Social & Community Development (Community Development & Support, Local Employment & Training, Cultural Heritage)

We have set ourselves a completion timeline of six months. We have got off to a great start with our recycling program already in place, moving many lights over to LED’s and the planting of our organic vegetable garden nourished by our own compost. I know that we have your support and encouragement and I look forward to sharing with you our progress along the way via our blog and newsletters.
